Nature Restoration in Belgium
What if birds no longer had places to land, squirrels could no longer find trees for shelter, and deer were forced further and further away from their natural habitat

Our slogan says it all: building diversity.
As an entrepreneur with a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, I have been looking for ways to reduce and offset my ecological footprint for quite some time. In that search, I was repeatedly offered projects involving tree planting abroad. Yet it never felt right to me. My life and my work are rooted here — so it is here that I want to give something back to nature.
I also noticed that many nature projects remain limited to a one-time action. Trees are planted, but afterwards there is often a lack of follow-up and care. For us, nature restoration is not a moment in time, but a thoughtful and long-term vision. It starts with the soil, develops around fauna and flora, and grows through a multi-year plan in which balance is central. It is not about simply planting a hundred trees and waiting to see what survives, but about creating a resilient ecosystem.
Forests are disappearing, flowers are becoming scarce, and animals are losing their home. That is why we are committed to nature restoration: to give space back to life — for animals, people, and future generations.
When we were privately looking for a new place to live, we were immediately drawn to this location. The combination of the house and the surrounding five hectares of land offered a unique opportunity. Here, the foundation was laid to turn our vision into reality — and that is how vzw Equi-Libi was born.

Location
In Koningshooikt near Lier, a natural domain is growing where flower meadow, forest and silence meet.
It is a place where people find peace during yoga or forest bathing.
But just as much, it is a refuge for birds, insects and wild animals from the area.
Through the maintenance of this domain, space is given to biodiversity and natural abundance.
- 🐦 A resting place for birds
- 🦔 A passage zone for small mammals
- 🦋 A paradise for insects
- 🌾 A flower meadow that nourishes biodiversity
- 🌳 A forest where natural processes are given space
